Kony. Grab what you want and drop the rest!
All right, if you have 30 minutes of your time, we would suggest you watch this video. We would suggest as well that political preferences, war against war opinions, possible judgements about non profit organizations, the concept of the presence of USA in foreign countries, whose financial interest is at stake and the questions about the use of online content as a form of activism, to be put aside for a moment. Let’s just be observers for the time of this video.
Whether or not you agree with this cause and the way its defended, we think that there is some things that should be highlighted here:
1. We, Tassio and Claudia, knew that Angelina and Brad got married but we didn’t know, before today, anything about Joseph Koni. We do not consume gossip media but want it or not it is around us. This is a reminder for us that we should dig deeper, look more carefully for information and filter what stays in our minds. Its a great idea to make Joseph Koni famous. We believe that the important thing here is to put a spotlight on this kind of information. At the end of the story, it is not whether we agree or not with this cause or the way its defended, but at least we know about it and we can choose to embrace it or not.
2. The notion that we can connect and share thoughts with people all around the world is very encouraging. How great is it that people’s voice get to be heard and travel so fast as to shaken their “leaders”? Direct communication empowers individuals with world wide experience and information so they can get involved locally and think globally.
Us from Terra D’Agua would like to add that sharing stuff on facebook is great! But a dip in the ocean, a hand on the soil or sitting under a waterfall can also be powerful reminders that we are all connected and responsible for each other and for the condition of this planet.
We know that this is a very controversial video and there is loads of replies about that on the internet. But we would say grab what you want (or what your heart identify with) and leave the rest…
Claudia & Tassio.

Kony is dead or abroad. I’ve been to Gulu and there’s been no war for 6 years.
1. Why doesn’t Invisible Children fight for the freedom of child soldiers in the UDPF?
2. Did Invisible Children edit the original movie at the insistence of the Ugandan government and accept money from the Museveni government to change it to sanitize the atrocities committed by the government in the north?
3. Why does Invisible Children pay the travel expenses of Ugandan politicians? Walter Ochora should not be accepting money from the organization.
4. How can Invisible Children remain an American tax-exempt charity when it is so involved in politics and lobbying? That is illegal.
5. What is Invisible Children’s exit strategy for Uganda?
6. How much money did Invisible Children receive in donations as a result of Nate Henn’s death in the Kampala bombings? Was there a spike in donations? 7. Money from Nate Henn’s death….how much and how was the money disbursed?
8. In light of WikiLeaks memo indicating that the U.S. is aware Uganda army has committed war crimes in its fight against LRA how does Invisible Children feel working on same side with a government that could be eventually brought on war crimes charges?
http://www.blackstarnews.com/news/122/ARTICLE/6992/2010-12-08.html
9. Does Invisible Children feel any moral obligation to disassociate itself from Uganda government and denounce the alleged war crimes mentioned in the memo by the U.S. ambassador? 10. Since Invisible Children is exclusively concerned with, and a participating agent in pursuit of, the alleged war crimes & etc. of Joseph Kony and the LRA, how do they explain the persistence and perseverance of Kony in the face of what is arguably and penultimately the world’s greatest manhunt at present (Osama bin Laden being the first)?
11. Who are Kony’s contacts (and power affiliations) in the USA?
12. Have Invisible Children worked with USA military support in Northern Uganda?
13. What are Invisible Children’s links and/or relations and/or affiliations with AFRICOM?
14. Which Ugandan politicians and how many has IC paid the travel expenses for?
Hey Ricci,
Thank you for commenting on our blog!
Like we suggested on the post, our idea was just to be observers of the video. Extract what is good for you and drop the rest! It seems nothing is good on the video for you. Good for you that you been there and that you done all that research! Good for you that your able to question all this things and share it!
For us, we grabbed what our hearts identified with and dropped the rest.
Questioning invisible children was and is never our idea! We choose to focus on other things!
This is how we start our post:”… We would suggest as well that political preferences, war against war opinions, possible judgements about non profit organizations, the concept of the presence of USA in foreign countries, whose financial interest is at stake and the questions about the use of online content as a form of activism, to be put aside for a moment. …”
Hope you are feeling good wherever you are!
Our best wishes to you!!!
Tassio and Claudia.
This is always the excuse for most people to sit back and do nothing. You have to start somewhere and The things Kony has done to destroy thousands of families in Africa and spread daily life changing fear in the hearts of children is whats at stake. Just because He is far away in another country does not matter its called JUSTICE. The old saying “evil flourishes when good men do nothing” is so true and trying to find nit picky reasons to not help is just a copout! check your heart and shut off your seeming intellect for a moment.
Hi Carol,
Thank you for reading our post.
We are very sorry if you misunderstood us. No evil is flourishing here. We can assure you that :D But of course, believing on us or on any other human being is entirely up to you.
We believe that we are able to choose how to help any issue on this planet.
Its a significant thing that you question our heart or appeal for justice.Thank you! On our side, we choose to do that to ourselves daily.
We very much hope you have a peaceful day wherever you are!
With heart and respect,
Tassio and Claudia.
The Invisible Children are not wanted in the whole of Northern Uganda. The Acholi people would like to disassociate themselves from such scams as far as possible.
The kids had good intentions from the beginning. The first film was balanced, untill Salim Saleh bought them out and they re edited the film to do exactly has the government wanted them to do.
Legislation on NGO Registration in Uganda.
This group are too political. Since when has a NGO taken active role in politics?
Most have never even heard of the Acholi people or northern Uganda. They think they are in Holly Woods and I think they have brought too much pain to the Acholi people than any good. The claimed that it was them who threw Kony out of Uganda.
What a shame to have kids who have no pain about other people’s suffering?
Hi Monique,
We encourage the debate over here! Its always healthy!
Please read our reply to Ricci or re read our post. Or maybe the title.
We think we are missing the point that we are trying to make…
Take good care wherever you are and our best wishes to you too!!
Tassio and Claudia.
Hello, friend, im 100% agree with you!
